Barolo Arione

Arione, is an historically important Barolo sub-zone, which consists of a single-vineyard owned entirely by Gigi Rosso. It is located in Serralunga d’Alba and vaunts an optimal Southern exposure. This vineyard, originally three hectares, was completely replanted by Gigi Rosso in the 1960s; one more hectare has since been acquired and replanted in 1995.
The dry calcareous clay soil does not permit the production of large quantities of grapes. Thanks to such low production and hand selection, Barolo Arione achieves an extraordinary concentration of fruit which is complemented by its intense dried herb, mineral and earth character. The wine ages for three years in wood barrels before release. Barolo Arione has a distinguished and delicate etherial bouquet and a rich, complex and smooth body. It is a classic, elegant Barolo.
